FAQ's

Below FAQ are some common concerns of our clients, if you have other questions, please e mail us at hello@creamcollection.com.au

Is organic cotton hypoallergenic or better for sensitive skin?

It's grown and processed without the chemical residues (pesticide traces, formaldehyde-based finishing agents, chlorine bleach) that can trigger skin irritation in people who wear the same garment for 8–12 hour shifts, next to skin that's already sweating in kitchen heat. For chefs who've had reactions to synthetic uniforms, this organic cotton is often the best solution.

What size apron do I need for a commercial kitchen?

Bib aprons should cover from upper chest to below the knee for real splash protection; waist aprons should sit at the natural waist and cover to mid-thigh at minimum.

What's the best fabric for a chef jacket in a hot kitchen?

Breathable, lightweight, natural fibre with some structure. Poly-cotton blends resist wrinkles but trap heat against the body; 100% organic cotton breathes and wicks moisture more naturally. So organic cotton is the best solution.

Does organic cotton chef wear cost more, and is it worth it?

Yes, upfront cost is higher - organic cotton farming yields less per hectare and the certified supply chain costs more to run honestly. The payoff is in the feeling of the garment and the little impact it has on the environment.

Is 100% organic cotton durable enough for a commercial kitchen?

Yes, if the weave and weight are perfect for commercial kitchens. Long-staple organic cotton fibres are actually stronger and less prone to pilling than short-staple conventional cotton, which is why a well-made organic garment often outlasts a cheaper poly-blend.

What is GOTS certification and why does it matter for a chef uniform?

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certifies the entire supply chain - not just that the cotton was grown organically, but that dyeing, processing and manufacturing meet strict environmental and labour standards from farm to finished garment.

What's the difference between organic cotton and regular cotton for chef wear?

Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilisers or GMO seed, using roughly 90% less water than conventional cotton farming. For a chef, the practical difference shows up on skin and in the wash: no chemical residue against sweat and heat, and a fabric that softens with washing instead of breaking down. Regular cotton-poly blends are cheaper because polyester cuts cost and adds wrinkle resistance - but polyester traps heat and doesn't breathe the same way in a working kitchen.

Do you offer bulk or wholesale orders?

Yes. See our wholesale prices and discounts here: https://www.creamcollection.com.au/blogs/news/wholesale-discounts

How should a chef jacket fit - tight or loose?

Neither. Too tight restricts knife work and arm movement over a long shift; too loose is a burn and catch hazard near flame and equipment. The double-breasted panel should sit flat without pulling across the chest when arms are raised, and sleeves should allow a full reach without riding up.

Where do I find the size chart for the style I want to buy?

If you are using a mobile device: Scroll down to the description tab on the product page and below the type is a size chart. If you are viewing on a desktop : On each product page is a green button with the wording SIZE CHART. Click on that button and the relevant size chart will appear.

Can I get a sample to try on before buying?

A 40 degree wash with line drying in the shade is all you need.

Can I embroider my name on my uniform?

Sure, sounds like a great idea. On each product page is a grey button with the wording ADD NAME HERE, click on that button and a sheet will appear where you can enter the name you want embroidered . You can select the font, colour and position you require. Each embroidered name costs AUD$15.00. Please allow up to 3 extra days to the usual shipping time frame for embroidery.

Is it safe to soak my uniforms in pre wash detergent?

No, it is not safe to soak your uniforms in pre wash detergent like NAPISAN, SARD, WHITE KING, BOOST or any solution with Sodium Percarbonate in it as this breaks down the fibres of your garment and causes the metal fasterners to dislodge.

Can I get a refund if I have not worn the garments?
